Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Patch Fixes Crashes and Soars Toward Stability

The launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 was nothing short of a turbulence-filled takeoff. While the game’s overwhelming popularity created massive server strain on release day, the developers at Asobo Studio are quickly addressing issues with a fresh patch. This update fixes a range of stability and performance problems, including crashes and loading delays.

PC players, take note: outdated community folder packages might cause unexpected performance hiccups or crashes. Asobo recommends moving your community packages to another folder before relaunching the game.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the hotfix highlights:

  • Stability & Performance Fixes
    • Resolved a crash when selecting “As Arrival” in the EFB.
    • Fixed crashes linked to the Camera menu and Drone focus mode changes.
    • Addressed various crashes across the game.
  • General Bug Fixes
    • Restored missing cursor on the Xbox Live sign-in popup.
    • Fixed input profile issues that caused loss of focus during profile creation.
    • Improved aircraft selection via the control menu (now only changeable from the home page).
    • Fixed menu navigation issues on the help pages.

While the initial rollout overwhelmed servers, the situation is stabilizing. According to MSFS head Jorg Neumann, the team underestimated demand during testing, preparing for 200,000 concurrent players—but saw numbers far exceeding expectations. With game assets streamed in real time from the cloud, this strain was inevitable. However, the queue to get in has now disappeared, and performance is improving steadily.

As MSFS 2024 continues to smooth out its journey, players can look forward to an enhanced, seamless flying experience soon.
